SummaryCurrent building code requires design and construction professionals to incorporate outboard insulation in wall systems. The presentation will share results of thermal studies performed with various attachment methods commonly used within the industry for attaching façade panels. Options will be explored for reducing the thermal impact of the rain screen attachment. Material and installation considerations and insight to the structural design of such systems will be presented. Learning Objectives
BiographyBrian Nelson is a graduate of Oregon State University with a double degree, Bachelors of Science and concurrent Bachelors of Art, in Construction Engineering Management with an additional minor in Business and Entrepreneurship. He is currently a LEED Green Associate and Construction Document Technologist. He has worked within the building construction industry for eight years in various capacities from sub-confctracting to serving as part of a general contracting management team for multi-million dollar high-rise condominium buildings in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Currently he works for Knight Wall Systems as the General Manager with key responsibilities of product and marketing development. Brian helps lead Knight’s efforts with his deep background knowledge of engineering, design and building construction. He has also been featured multiple times in the “Metal Construction News” publication on roundtable discussion articles pertaining to energy efficiency and moisture management. |
