Wagdy Anis, FAIA, LEED AP Principal, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. Wagdy’s professional focus is the integrity and performance of the building enclosure from a research, design, and troubleshooting perspective. His commitment to high quality technical design of the building enclosure and the industry has allowed him to play a significant role in establishing Building Enclosure Councils throughout the country. SummaryThe window industry has one of the toughest jobs in building performance—it has to build products that withstand all of the forces of sun, wind, rain, hurricanes and three-year-olds while remaining essentially invisible. Manufacturers are also expected to achieve all of these architectural performance imperatives with products that last decades. Over time our industry has come to expect even greater performance delivery from our fenestration systems—adding increased safety during fire and withstanding greater impact and blast resistance during a disaster (whether natural or man-made).
