Building Performance Analysis: Requirements for Energy Reduction and Whole Building Optimization

July 28, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Summary

This presentation focuses on building performance rating systems and their requirements for energy use reduction and whole building optimization. The program provides an overview of how to use computer assisted building performance analysis systems and ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G to maximize the design team’s ability to achieve the greatest number of credits when seeking project certification under a building performance rating system.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply energy modeling, beginning with a building’s shape, orientation and envelope, to optimize building energy performance.
  • Recognize at least three building rating systems.
  • Describe at least three high performance building standards, codes or guidelines.
  • Define a high performance building.
  • Learn about the recent upgrade to the South Carolina building codes and some current state legislation.
