Summary

Building performance modeling can identify potential risks, optimize building design, and evaluate return on an investment. Conducting building performance analysis at different phases of the design projects can help owners, architects, and engineers to make informed design decisions. Different types of building performance modeling and analyses as well as the associated benefits of building performance modeling will be discussed.  Topics discussed will include energy performance modeling, finite element thermal modeling,  hygrothermal modeling, and solar reflectivity.

Learning Objectives

  • Explore the types of building performance modeling and analysis available
  • Understand the benefits of each type of analysis and when they are applicable
  • Recognize the importance for conducting building performance analysis at different phases of design
